John Pillar Celebrates Five Years at Ryan Biggs | Clark Davis

John Pillar, P.E., S.E., is celebrating his fifth anniversary at Ryan Biggs | Clark Davis this month. John works on many of the new building design projects in the educational, housing, commercial, and medical markets. John also works on contractor support service projects and serves as Special Inspector on many new construction projects.

“The thing that I enjoy most across all projects is the diversity of the things we are capable of analyzing,” said John. “My first day at RBA (as it was once called back in the old days), Jamie [Davis] asked me to look at a glass canopy using a design reference book I had never heard of. But, the key thing that allowed me to do it was that we had the resource of the reference book readily available in our library. We’ve looked at old structural flat arch tile floors and wood timber structures at Cornell, designed 300-foot clear spanning aircraft hangars in Kuwait, analyzed ancient proprietary cold-formed joists for schools right here in Central New York (along with many other unique systems), and we have either an expert in house or the resources available to tackle the analysis hurdle. I said it the day I started working here, and I will say it again – the level of expertise in this company is higher than any I’ve worked for or with. My favorite thing about my time here is our fearlessness of the technical challenge.”

John holds Professional Engineering licenses in New York and Virginia and an S.E. license in Illinois. He was also recently appointed to a Shareholder in the firm. Congratulations, John.
