Hudson Valley Community College Science Center
Troy, NY

We provided the structural design of this $40 million, 100,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art science building.  The three-story, steel-framed building is founded on grade beams with drilled concrete piers.  Drilled piers are socketed into bedrock.  Lateral bracing is provided by braced frames.

Designed to achieve LEED Silver designation from the United States Green Building Council, the Science Center was constructed as an investment in the future of the college as roughly half of the college's students are enrolled in science courses.  The college was in need of a building that would provide a 21st century education that meets the needs of the 21st century workforce.

Let us give your building strength to endure.

The new science center houses 25 laboratories for the studies of biology, chemistry, physics, biotechnology, bio-manufacturing, earth science, and forensics.  The facility holds 11 classrooms, 45 faculty and staff offices, conference space, science study center, and a several student gathering spaces.

The Science Center is an important and integral part of the Capital Region community.  This facility provides laboratories and classrooms equipped with the latest technologies that will be used to train the workforce of the future.  The Science Center will further help to define HVCC as one of the most outstanding and competitive community colleges in the nation.
