Albert Wisner Public Library
Warwick, NY

In the historic town of Warwick, the new Albert Wisner Public Library needed to bridge present and past, addressing 21st century needs while respecting the region's agrarian and historic influences. The aesthetic composition of vertical board-and-batten siding, horizontal clapboard siding, simulated natural stone veneer, and both asphalt shingles and standing seam metal roofing links this modern library to the rural barns and grange buildings that have been so prominent in the community.

Let us provide the benefit of our extensive experience in a timeframe that meets your needs.

We provided structural design for this $8.5 million, 21,000-square-foot library. The scale of this two-story structure is reduced by utilizing site grades and having only a one-story exposure on the street and parking lot sides of the library. Scale is further broken up through the use of plan geometry, dormers, and multiple roof lines. Interior layout includes a community room with seating for 100 people, meeting space, art exhibit space, increased reading and collection areas, a children's room, and semi-private reading niches.
