Educational Opportunity Center, University at Buffalo

We provided the structural design for this $26 million, 65,000-square-foot steel-framed building.  The facility is comprised of a four-story structure with an enclosed rooftop penthouse above, a one-story structure housing the Bethel Head Start childcare program, and one story entrance structure connecting the new building to an existing multi-story building.

The first floor features a conference center, enrollment management office, career services suite, and support spaces.  Classrooms, faculty and administrative offices, a computer lab, library, and student and faculty lounges make up the top three floors.

Let us give your building strength to endure.

The structural steel design includes large spans and suspended framing to create large open spaces crtitical to programming.  The foundation system includes driven steel H-piles supporting concrete grade beams and at-grade structural slabs.

Part of the Downtown Gateway complex, the EOC trains urban community members for jobs and prepares them for higher education.

The project is on track to receive a LEED Gold designation incorporating 6,000 square feet of vegetated roof.
