Ryan Biggs Clark Davis is the delegate engineer for steel connections on the Albany International Airport Central Terminal Passenger Screening Expansion project.

Connection design began in July of 2023 and since then, thousands of pages of calculations with detailed connection sketches have been produced. These are used by the fabricator, Stone Bridge Iron & Steel, Inc., to produce shop drawings for a total of 11 steel erection sequences (the photograph highlights Erection Sequence 1).. The connection design encompasses shear, moment, and braced frame connections, as well as embedded and post-installed connection plates at concrete interfaces and design of the stairs. Shear connections are designed for blast loading and integrity requirements.  We are currently working to address various challenges that crop up during steel erection to help the fabricator keep construction progressing.
