The Great Stone Barn was built in 1858 by Shaker workers as a dairy barn and is the largest stone barn in the country at 196 feet long by 50 feet wide and five stories tall at its west end. Fire destroyed the wooden structure in 1972.
Ryan Biggs | Clark Davis provided nondestructive testing services to the Contractor to aid in the emergency stabilization repairs to the historic stone walls. The scope included material testing of the original mortar to make recommendations for grout injection material, and inspection and nondestructive quality verification of CIP penetration.
