Field Trip: Beaver Creek Clean River Project, Albany

RPI’s Student Chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) joined our staff on a site visit of the Beaver Creek Clean River Project in Albany.

The $45 million project will ultimately reduce the amount of raw waste that enters the nearby Hudson River during heavy rain. The underground facility will screen out solids and debris and send them to the county’s wastewater treatment plant through a new sewer pipe. Ryan Biggs Clark Davis is providing structural engineering services of the subterranean facility, including concrete structure design, Construction Administration tasks, and Special Inspections. The main facility is nearing completion, while the diversion and discharge structures connecting into the existing sewer are still under construction. The tour was led by Rebecca Caldon, PE, from the Albany Water Department.
