Canstruction 2024: Dream STEAM
Ryan Biggs Clark Davis was proud to participate in the 2024 Capital Region Canstruction competition, led by captains Alicia Moss and Maddy Osborn.
Together, our team fundraised, designed, and built a 3,580 can structure, which following the exhibit will be donated to The Food Pantries for the Capital District. This coalition, comprising of nearly 70 food pantries across the Albany, Rensselaer, Saratoga, and Schenectady Counties, serves as our valued beneficiary.
RBCD was one of the ten teams that CANstructed builds in the theme Dream STEAM (Science-Technology-Engineering-Arts-Mathematics). Our structure portrays a rocket’s mission about to journey through space, and looking to prove that an end hunger is not out of this world. Zoom through the cosmos with us, and discover how when we come together, we can break through barriers to fight food insecurity. With satellites, solar power, and a sprinkle of stardust, we can live in a world where no one goes to bed hungry. Even though space might seem far away, it's filled with ideas and tools that can help to inspire solutions to address hunger here on Earth. Keep reaching for the stars!
RBCD was your 2024 Capital Region Canstruction Dream STEAM Structural Ingenuity Award Winner. This is awarded to the team whose structure best utilizes engineering and architectural principals to overcome design challenges. Basically, if you take away the substrates, it will still stand up!
Our structure will be on display in Crossgates Mall now through May 19th. Don't forget to stop by and bring canned food to vote our team for the People's Choice Award.
