Ryan Biggs | Clark Davis provided the structural design for the $20 million historic rehabilitation of the Jones Court Apartments into the new Libertad Elmira housing development. The original building was constructed in the 1950s.
The structural scope included condition surveys, an addition of an elevator (pit and floor openings); three new three-story stair additions; infill of openings after the removal of an existing chimney; design of lintels for new openings in exterior walls; and design of repairs to masonry veneer.
The 88,000-square-foot building houses 91 units, 20 of which are reserved for homeless veterans.The building also houses an office for the Economic Opportunity Program, which provides a multitude of services to veterans and other residents, including wellness checks and nutrition services.
The facility also includes a barbershop, dentist office, workout room, storage units, an EOP classrooms, playground, and other amenities.
