Announcing Tom Field's Retirement

Tom Field will be retiring from Ryan Biggs | Clark Davis this summer after a 48-year-long career as a Civil Engineer. Tom earned his BS in Civil Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 1973 then worked for several engineering firms before joining Clark Engineering & Surveying in January 1995. In 2014, when Ryan-Biggs Associates and Clark Engineering & Surveying merged to become Ryan Biggs Clark Davis Engineering & Surveying, D.P.C., Tom became a Senior Associate and Shareholder of the newly formed firm. Since then, he has continued to lead the firm's Civil Engineering department and provide his expertise and passion to essential and exciting projects across New York State.

Tom has a long list of site/civil engineering projects on his resume, but those he looks back on as his most memorable include: New York State Court of Appeals Addition, Albany-Colonie Baseball Stadium, Darrow School Wastewater Collection and “Green” Treatment System, University at Albany Campus Center Addition, and many SUNY System projects across the State.

Field is an active member of the Association of State Highway Engineers (ASHE) and the Water Environment Federation (WEF). He has served as Town Engineer to the Town of Poestenkill, Town of Hillsdale, Village of Coxsackie, and the Town of New Lebanon.

Throughout his career, Tom provided design services for dozens of projects in the State University of New York (SUNY) system.

"We were honored to work with Tom on so many interesting projects over the years. It’s hard to summarize all of the things that make him a great engineer, other than to say that he’s always willing to share his extensive knowledge, and is determined to find the best solution for each client no matter how difficult the challenge. We wish Tom all the best in this next chapter of life."
Ann & Doug Clark, Retired Founders of Clark Engineering & Surveying

"Fabiola Gianotti once said, 'this job is a great scientific adventure. But it is also a great human adventure.' Tom really embodies this quote as he has earned his reputation as a detailed and insightful engineer while providing his advice and mentoring in a respectful way. He is a true gentleman and a perfect example of what it means to be a Professional Engineer. Thank You, Tom, for your contributions to the profession and our firm; you will be missed. Best wishes and smooth sailing."
Jack Healy, Principal - Ryan Biggs Clark Davis

Tom adds, "I have had the amazing opportunity to work on a wide range of projects all over the Northeast. I’ve never been bored. I enjoy going by the finished projects and feeling that we actually improved things for people. I am truly grateful for the people I have worked with and clients I have worked for. I have many fond memories of both."

In his well-deserved retirement, Tom plans to spend time sailing, fishing, spending more time with family, and enjoying the outdoors.
